Enjoy leisure time in summer & winter
"Holiday is meiZeit"Ski in & Ski out Hotel
Snow outside. Warmth inside. And the day is yours.
Winter in Filzmoos can be whatever you want it to be. Make the first tracks in the snow in the morning, cruise down wide-open slopes into the valley or head up to the Rossbrand for some high-altitude cross-country skiing. Or simply put on your snowshoes, wander through the winter forest, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snowy landscape, go tobogganing or discover who is really the most competitive at a game of curling.
When it comes to skiing in Filzmoos, things are pleasantly relaxed. The ski area is part of Ski amadé, easy to explore and offers wide slopes, short distances and plenty of space – especially nice for families, leisure skiers and anyone who prefers their ski holiday without too much hustle and bustle. And one of the best things? The slopes lead you straight back down into the village.
There is also plenty to discover away from the ski slopes during a winter holiday in Filzmoos. Cross-country skiing, winter hiking, snowshoeing, tobogganing or simply going for a walk in the snow – you decide just how active your winter day should be.
And afterwards? Back to meiZeit. Bathrobe on, into the sauna, something delicious in our lounge and perhaps a glass of wine by the fire.
Winter outside. Warmth inside. And plenty of meiZeit in between.

From the snow straight into the warmth.
Outside, the snow crunches beneath your feet. Inside, the warmth is already waiting. For us, it’s exactly this combination that makes a winter day in Filzmoos so special.
Spend the day skiing, cross-country skiing or walking through the snow-covered winter landscape – and then come back to meiZeit. Bathrobe on, into the sauna or onto an infrared relaxation lounger, and for a while, have absolutely nothing you need to do. Filzmoos lies at around 1,050 metres above sea level and is known for its snowy winters. From the slopes and winter trails, it’s only a short way back into the village – and back to your favourite place at meiZeit.
Perhaps something delicious in our lounge afterwards, a glass of wine by the fire, or simply a quiet evening looking out at the snow-covered mountains.
Enjoy winter first. Then enjoy the warmth. And tomorrow? Simply do it all over again.
Winter can be wonderfully quiet too
Of course, skiing is part of a winter holiday in Filzmoos. But some of the most beautiful winter moments begin when you take off your ski boots.
Follow the winter walking trails through snow-covered forests, let a horse-drawn sleigh carry you through the winter landscape or stop at a cosy mountain hut along the way. And if you feel like picking up the pace, grab a toboggan and head back down into the valley.
For us, that’s exactly what makes a winter holiday in Salzburg so special. You don’t have to spend every day on the slopes to truly experience winter. Filzmoos lies in the heart of the Salzburg mountains and is part of Ski amadé – yet there are still those wonderfully quiet moments when it’s just you, the snow, the mountains and perhaps a little too much fresh mountain air.
With the family, as a couple or with friends. Active or completely relaxed. Each morning, you decide what the day will bring.
Or whether you need a plan at all.
Skiing with Children in Filzmoos
Filzmoos is a wonderful place to make those first turns in the snow. Easy-to-navigate slopes, family-friendly runs and short distances make it easy for young skiers and beginners to discover just how much fun winter sports can be.
The ski schools in Filzmoos help children and adults take their first steps on skis or a snowboard – relaxed and one step at a time. And once you feel a little more confident, there are plenty of opportunities to practise and soon enjoy those first runs together.
Especially nice for families: the ski area is easy to get around, distances are short and much of the action is centred around the village. Less time organising, more time for what a winter holiday is really about.
Into the snow together. And let’s see who gets to the bottom first.
Tracks in the snow. Mountains all around. And off you go.
Around 45 kilometres of cross-country and skating trails lead through the winter landscape around Filzmoos. Some are relaxed and leisurely, others more sporty and challenging – with plenty of choice for beginners and experienced cross-country skiers alike.
From the Übermoos trail to the longer route towards Neuberg, there are many ways to discover Filzmoos on cross-country skis. And if you feel like heading a little higher, take the gondola up to the Rossbrand. At around 1,600 metres, the Papageno high-altitude trail awaits – cross-country skiing with views so beautiful that stopping every now and then is almost part of the experience.
Classic or skating. Easy-going or sporty. As long as you’re outside.
A warm blanket. The gentle sound of bells. And winter all around.
Horse-drawn sleighs are as much a part of Filzmoos as the snow and the mountains. For generations, horses and sleighs have travelled through the village and into the snowy landscape – a tradition that still has a very special charm today.
Wrapped up warmly under a blanket, you’ll travel through the winter forest towards the Unterhofalm or Oberhofalm. Horses in front of you, the gentle sound of bells and nothing but snow, forest and mountains all around. Whether as a couple, with family or with friends, a horse-drawn sleigh ride is a wonderfully unhurried way to experience winter in Filzmoos. And once you reach the mountain hut, there is plenty of time to stop, warm up and enjoy something delicious.
Sometimes, taking it slowly is simply the best way to travel.
The journey from the meiZeit Lodge to the Unterhofalm or Oberhofalm takes around 3.5 hours in total, including approximately 1.5 hours at the mountain hut.
The minimum price per sleigh is €200.00 for 1 to 7 people. When sharing the sleigh with other guests, the price is €26.00 per person. A private sleigh without additional passengers costs €200.00.
We’ll be happy to help you arrange your horse-drawn sleigh ride.
All you have to do is climb aboard. We’ll take care of the rest.
Up the mountain. And back down by toboggan.
The 3-kilometre Kleinberg natural toboggan run takes you through the winter landscape and back down into the valley. Fast and sporty or nice and easy – you decide the pace.
Getting up to the Kleinbergalm is easy with the Großberg 4-seater chairlift, just opposite the meiZeit Lodge. Once at the top, you can stop at the mountain hut for something to eat or drink before setting off on your toboggan ride back down into the valley. And the fun doesn’t stop when it gets dark. The natural toboggan run is illuminated, making an evening run through the winter landscape a special experience. Reservations are required for night tobogganing.
If you prefer to walk up, the Kleinbergalm can be reached from the Filzmoos primary school in around one hour.
Toboggans are available to hire; depending on the offer, the uphill ride and toboggan hire may already be included in the price.
Take it easy on the way up. How you get back down is entirely up to you.
Up under your own power. Down through the snow.
If you enjoy exploring the mountains beyond the groomed slopes, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for ski touring around Filzmoos. The region offers 18 different ski tours, ranging from gentler ascents to more challenging routes for experienced ski tourers.
Once you reach the top, you’re rewarded with peaceful surroundings, mountain views and – when conditions are right – wonderful descents through powder or spring snow. A particularly special experience for experienced skiers is the Dachstein Glacier Crossing, which can be undertaken with a guide when snow and weather conditions allow. Good fitness and confident skiing skills are essential. Away from secured slopes, snow, weather and avalanche conditions play a crucial role. If you’re unfamiliar with the area or planning a more demanding tour, we strongly recommend heading out with an experienced mountain or ski guide.
We’ll be happy to help you arrange a suitable guide.
Step by step to the top. And then comes the best part.
Schuhe an. Raus in den Schnee. Der Rest ergibt sich unterwegs.
